Beachsome

A collection of twenty poems inspired by photographs taken by Val Woollard on her iPhone.

BEACHSOME
It was fun to play down by the sea
the three of us together,
Stan, the little dog and me
in that joyous July weather.

We basked in the warmth of those summer days,
built castles from glistening sand,
paddled in the taciturn tickling waves,
raced each other along the strand.

Threw driftwood for the dog to fetch.
He brought it back each time,
often from the water’s edge,
slathered in seaweed slime.

If I close my eyes, I still can see
Stan, the little dog and me.
